Editorial Policy & Casino Rating Methodology

How we select, assess, score and update casino information for Canadian readers.

Last reviewed: August 5, 2026

Our goal is to explain no-verification and conditional-KYC casinos accurately, including their limitations. A casino described as “no KYC” may still request identity, address, payment-ownership or source-of-funds evidence when legal, fraud or account-risk checks are triggered. We do not treat “no KYC” as a guarantee of permanent anonymity.

Our Editorial Principles

  • Accuracy: material claims should be supported by current operator terms, regulator records or documented testing.
  • Clarity: advertised claims are identified separately from results we observed ourselves.
  • Reader safety: licensing, withdrawal rules, KYC triggers and responsible-gambling controls take priority over bonus size.
  • Independence: commercial partners do not receive the right to approve reviews or alter a score.
  • Corrections: confirmed errors are corrected promptly and material changes are reflected in the page's review date.

Which Casinos Are Eligible?

Before scoring a casino, we check whether it passes a basic eligibility review. An operator may be excluded regardless of its potential numerical score if we cannot identify the operating company, verify a claimed licence, access the applicable terms, understand its withdrawal rules, or find a usable responsible-gambling and complaints process.

We may also exclude or remove operators when there is credible evidence of withheld legitimate winnings, misleading bonus advertising, copied or unverifiable licence information, unresolved security concerns, or systematic failure to apply published terms fairly.

Rating Categories and Weights

Category Weight What We Examine
Licensing, ownership and safety 25% Regulator record, licensed domains, operating company, encryption, account security, game testing and complaint route.
Withdrawals and KYC transparency 25% Published KYC triggers, pending times, payout limits, fees, account restrictions and consistency between marketing and terms.
Payments 15% Supported currencies and networks, deposit and withdrawal minimums, processing times, wallet controls and disclosed charges.
Bonus fairness 10% Wagering requirements, eligible games, maximum-bet rules, expiry, cash-out caps and whether verification affects eligibility.
Games and fairness 10% Provider quality, game availability, RTP information, live games, provably fair titles and geographic restrictions.
Support and usability 10% Support access, response quality, mobile experience, cashier clarity, account controls and accessibility.
Responsible gambling 5% Deposit, loss and session limits, time-outs, self-exclusion, reality checks and access to help.

How the Final Score Is Calculated

Each category receives a score from 0 to 10. We multiply each category score by its weight and combine the results into a final score out of 10, rounded to one decimal place. A casino must still pass the eligibility review; a high bonus or large game library cannot compensate for an unverifiable licence or serious payout concern.

Scores are comparative snapshots, not guarantees. They can change when an operator changes its ownership, licence, terms, payment options, KYC policy or complaint record.

How We Classify “No KYC”

Classification Meaning
No verification at registration Documents are not normally requested when the account is opened, but may be required later.
No routine KYC Ordinary transactions may be processed without documents when no risk trigger applies.
Threshold-based verification The terms identify an amount or cumulative activity level above which checks may be required.
Conditional KYC The operator reserves the right to request documents for AML, fraud, payment, location, age or bonus-abuse checks.

Research and Testing Process

  1. Identify the operator, licensed domain and relevant regulator record.
  2. Read the general terms, KYC policy, bonus rules, payment rules, privacy policy and responsible-gambling information.
  3. Record important conditions, including restricted jurisdictions, withdrawal limits and circumstances that may trigger verification.
  4. Where lawful and practical, test registration, support, mobile usability and cashier information. If a deposit or withdrawal test is completed, record its date, method, network, amount and measured processing time.
  5. Compare observed results with the operator's advertising and published terms.
  6. Apply the weighted scoring model and complete an editorial review before publication.

We do not use a single successful withdrawal as proof that every player will receive the same result. Processing can vary by account, currency, network congestion, risk review and location.

Bonuses, Payout Times and Other Changing Information

Bonus amounts and payment conditions can change without notice. We date material checks and encourage readers to confirm the current offer and full terms on the operator's site before depositing. When a processing time comes from the operator rather than our own test, it should be described as “advertised” or “stated,” not “verified.”

Commercial Relationships

The site may earn a commission when a reader follows certain links and later registers or becomes a customer. Commercial relationships may influence which eligible casinos receive promotional placement, but they do not give an operator control over our written verdict or rating criteria. Featured placements and sponsored links should be clearly identifiable. Read our Affiliate Disclosure for more information.

Review Schedule and Downgrades

High-visibility rankings and time-sensitive offers should be checked regularly, while full policy reviews are completed when material changes are detected. A score or recommendation may be reduced, suspended or removed immediately when a licence becomes unverifiable, withdrawals appear to be unfairly delayed, terms become materially less transparent, or a serious player-safety issue emerges.

Corrections and Reader Feedback

If information appears outdated or incorrect, readers and operators may submit supporting evidence through the site's published contact channel. We assess corrections against primary sources wherever possible. Providing evidence does not guarantee a requested change, and operators cannot pay to remove accurate criticism.
